Here's a challenge for the creative out there (and non-creative that want something to do). Take the paragraph below, copy it, and use it as the start of your story. Good luck.

What? My life? No, surely not. There's really nothing to say. Why worry or wonder about mine when you've got your own? There's nothing special here. I'm just living my life.

What? My life? No, surely not. There's really nothing to say. Why worry or wonder about mine when you've got your own? There's nothing special here. I'm just living my life.
I live in a suburb of an unremarkable city. My family consists of a mom and dad, still together, two younger sisters, a dog, and some birds. Move along. No story here.
Although, I guess the fact that 4 of those birds are chickens might set us apart a bit from the neighbors, but it’s just so nice to have fresh eggs. One chicken even lays green eggs. I like to eat ham with them, just so I can start quoting Dr. Seuss.
My family is a home school family. While I suppose that can be unusual, in recent generations, when you really think about it, in the context of the whole span of history, more students have been home schooled than not. So what if “raking leaves” is considered gym. It’s a lot more practical than dodge ball. I mean really, is dodge ball going to give me life skills? I think not.
We eat dinner together at 5:30 each night while the news drones on in the background. My mother prepares the meals, with assistance from us girls. While washing dishes and setting the table, I update my mom on the events of my workday or the social lives of my friends. No major events, just people going about their daily business. No one has been nominated for a Nobel peace price. Doesn’t everyone know someone whose father who has converted an old chicken coop into his home?
My 9 year old sister likes to comment on the news. She has begun looking at life from an adult perspective early. I have never met another kid who has complained about high gas prices. Seriously, she thinks the oil companies are taking all of our money and wants a horse and buggy when she grows up. If we gave her to an Amish family she would be delighted.
See we’re quite average, nothing of great interest happens to us.
Just because I plan on running for president in 2020 doesn’t set me apart from anyone else. Even though as a child my mom got to perform on Wrigley Field, it doesn’t make her unique. Hasn’t everyone’s Father had the opportunity to play concerts at his construction job? Seven year olds write chapter books everyday. Ten year olds can memorize chapters of the Bible, no problem. We’re really just an average family in an average town. Move along, no story here.
